Remembering Keith Flint

It was on this day 5 years ago Keith Flint – originally a dancer for the group The Prodigy before becoming its lead singer, sadly passed away aged just 49. Originally formed in 1990, The Prodigy were one of the biggest names from the electronic dance scene to help bring the genre into mainstream radio. Their 1991 debut single “Charly” reached #3 in the UK charts. It sampled the cartoon “Charley Says” and inspired similar styles of tracks from other groups, such as “A Trip To Trumpton” by Urban Hype... Read More

Manchester’s Evolution In Music!

One of our latest new designs available at TShirtGrill shows off a brilliant timeline of Manchester’s music scene – all within a 15 year period! With an anti-establishment sound, Kurt was considered somewhat a voice of the Gen X era. The group first came to prominence in 1991 with the single Smells Like Teen Spirit from the album Nevermind.... Read More

A music genre that produces not only two megastar groups, but plenty more iconic acts that summarise just how varied (and incredible) the 1990s were! Drawing inspiration from glam rock of the 60s, punk rock of the 70s and indie rock of the 80s, these acts provided a soundtrack (and other iconic moments) that will live in the memory forever for many across the generations. Of course, we can’t talk about Britpop without mentioning both Oasis and Blur. A combined total of 10 chart toppers between the two acts, the... Read More

Insert Coin To Continue: Ready Player One?

Spielberg is back… and he’s delivered another classic for the big screen. Ready Player One is a film based on a 2011 novel by Ernest Cline (who also had a hand in writing for the film adaptation). It’s set in Columbus, OH in the year 2045, where the real world has become so dire that the world escapes reality by using Virtual Reality to engage with others, as well as work and play. The creator of the VR system (OASIS) is James Halliday, who recently passed away. Before he did,... Read More
