Minder: 30 Years Since The End (Sort Of)

This past Sunday marked an incredible 30 years since the comedy-drama TV show Minder broadcast its final episode of its initial run. First broadcast on ITV in October 1979, the show ran until 10th March 1994, and featured Dennis Waterman as Terry McCann with George Cole as Arthur Daley about the criminal underworld of London. The show initially focused on Terry as the lead character, but by the end it was much more about the double act of Terry and Arthur until Waterman left the role of McCann, leaving Arthur... Remembering Keith Flint

It was on this day 5 years ago Keith Flint – originally a dancer for the group The Prodigy before becoming its lead singer, sadly passed away aged just 49. Originally formed in 1990, The Prodigy were one of the biggest names from the electronic dance scene to help bring the genre into mainstream radio. Their 1991 debut single “Charly” reached #3 in the UK charts. It sampled the cartoon “Charley Says” and inspired similar styles of tracks from other groups, such as “A Trip To Trumpton” by Urban Hype... Read More

Manchester’s Evolution In Music!

One of our latest new designs available at TShirtGrill shows off a brilliant timeline of Manchester’s music scene – all within a 15 year period! To start, we go back to 1980 with Joy Division and frontman Ian Curtis. The Salford-based group actually formed in 1976 and sadly came to a premature end after Curtis’ passing in 1980. The remaining members of the group later on in the year went on to form New Order, which would lead to even more success for the next decade plus. In 1985, we... Read More

Insert Coin To Continue: Ready Player One?

Spielberg is back… and he’s delivered another classic for the big screen. Ready Player One is a film based on a 2011 novel by Ernest Cline (who also had a hand in writing for the film adaptation). It’s set in Columbus, OH in the year 2045, where the real world has become so dire that the world escapes reality by using Virtual Reality to engage with others, as well as work and play. The creator of the VR system (OASIS) is James Halliday, who recently passed away. Before he did,... Read More

Happy Birthday John Bonham – On His 68th

Today marks what would’ve been John Bonham‘s 68th birthday. Considered one of the greatest drummers in the rock industry, his fast paced and powerful drumming served to create the iconic sound we all know and love from Led Zeppelin, but Bonham never actually had any professional drumming lessons. Instead, he learned by himself with tips and help from other drummers from his local Redditch region. During his school years, John’s headmaster from his secondary school wrote in his report that he would either “become a dustman or a millionaire”. Good... Read More
