Minder: 30 Years Since The End (Sort Of)
This past Sunday marked an incredible 30 years since the comedy-drama TV show Minder broadcast its final episode of its initial run.
First broadcast on ITV in October 1979, the show ran until 10th March 1994, and featured Dennis Waterman as Terry McCann with George Cole as Arthur Daley about the criminal underworld of London.
The show initially focused on Terry as the lead character, but by the end it was much more about the double act of Terry and Arthur until Waterman left the role of McCann, leaving Arthur Daley to be the lead character for the final few seasons.
While the show came to an end in 1994, Channel 5 decided to revive it 15 years later in 2009 with Shane Richie, who plays Archibald “Archie” Davey – who was never explicitly explained as to what relation he was to Arthur, though Archie does say the line “if only my uncle Arthur could see me now!”.
The revival only lasted 6 shows before it got cancelled, however.
If you love this classic of a TV show – why not check out this exclusive Arthur Daley design? It’s a must-have for all Minder fans!
