Iconic moments from the world of television and cinema that should be immortalised on T-shirts:

First up, we’re taking a trip in the wayback machine and reliving a moment of comic genius from one of the most masterful comic actors of all time, Jackie Gleason, starring in ‘The Honeymooners’; what still stands as one of the sharpest sit-coms of all time. Ralph Kramden (Gleason) finally gets his moment to shine on the popular game show ‘The $99, 000 Dollar Answer, confidently promising his wife, Alice (played by the brilliant Audrey Meadows), that he’d bring him the grand prize. After preparing fanatically for his chosen category, popular music (“I wasn’t like those other delinquents down at the poolroom, every night of the week I’d be at some ballroom listening to some dance man.”), he’s stumped by the first question and is reduced to a stammering mess, uttering his trademark “hominahominahomina” before bowing out of the competition empty-handed. Gleason’s expressive facials would be a perfect match on a printed t-shirt.

Secondly, we’re taking a short trip from the boxy suburbs of New York, which provided the setting for The Honeymooners, to a wide-open coastal area of New Jersey, known as Pine Barrens; which gave its name to one of the most acclaimed episodes of the mob-drama, The Sopranos.

After a hit gets complicated, Paulie and Christopher are left stranded in the frozen woods, unable to navigate to their vehicle and unsuitably clothed for the unforgiving conditions. To make matters worse, their only form of communication with mob boss Tony Soprano is a mobile phone which intermittently loses signal, resulting in some memorable mixed messages including:

“He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians, guy was an interior decorator.”

With so many quotable outbursts from this one episode alone, ‘Pine Barrens’ has provided seemingly limitless ammunition for original and hilarious t-shirt designs.

Fair warning, the clip below features several instances of colourful language from mob members who typically handle setbacks with indiscriminate violence, so NSFW guidance should be given at this point.
