Happy 80th Birthday Roger Daltrey!
Many happy returns to the lead singer of The Who!
British music icon Roger Daltrey celebrates his 80th birthday today. The frontman of the one of the most influential rock bands in British history (and across the world), The Who have sold over 100 million records worldwide since their debut in the UK charts back in 1965!
The group achieved 25 UK Top 40 singles, and even more impressively a staggering 29 UK Top 40 albums too! Best remembered for songs such as “My Generation”, “Pinball Wizard” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again”, it’s safe to say they very much earned their place in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame back in 1990!
Their appeal reached outside of the music scene, too – a number of their hits have featured as the TV themes to CSI and subsequent spin-off shows; an episode of Top Gear once saw Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have to be roadies for the group, and they even appeared in an episode of The Simpsons when they performed for Homer’s side of Springfield after a debate about dial codes, of all things (The Who ultimately save the day, uniting the town once again).
A great day for celebrating – if you love The Who, why not check out our great range of designs for the legends!
