The Smiths Panic Womens Slimfit T-Shirt
"Panic" was recorded at London's Livingston Studios in May 1986. It was the group's first recording sessions since they completed work on their third album The Queen Is Dead six months earlier. During the interim period, bassist Andy Rourke had been fired due to his drug addiction.ﾠ
"Panic" drew negative reaction from critics who construed Morrissey's lyrics to have a racist connotation, due to their disparagement of the "disco" and the "DJ". The criticism was intensified by comments Morrissey made in a September 1986 Melody Maker interview with Frank Owen, where the singer denounced a "black pop conspiracy".

When musicians tried to get young people in to politics!
Formed in 1985, Red Wedge was a group of musicians (fronted by Billy Bragg, Paul Weller and Jimmy Somerville) who wanted to engage with young voters in order to garner more support for Labour ahead of the 1987 General Election, and in 86 they held a number of tours.
The tour featured The Style Council, The Communards, Junior Giscombe, Lorna Lee and Jerry Dammers. Guest appearances were also made by Madness, The The, Heaven 17, Bananarama, Prefab Sprout, Elvis Costello, Gary Kemp, Tom Robinson, Sade, The Beat, Lloyd Cole, The Blow Monkeyz, Jools & The Smiths.
Following the Conservatives' successful campaign in 1987, many musicians moved away from the project and eventually Red Wedge was formally disbanded in 1990.
Relive a classic period of great music with this exclusive design!
