<p>
When musicians tried to get young people in to politics!
Formed in 1985, Red Wedge was a group of musicians (fronted by Billy Bragg, Paul Weller and Jimmy Somerville) who wanted to engage with young voters in order to garner more support for Labour ahead of the 1987 General Election, and in 86 they held a number of tours.
The tour featured The Style Council, The Communards, Junior Giscombe, Lorna Lee and Jerry Dammers. Guest appearances were also made by Madness, The The, Heaven 17, Bananarama, Prefab Sprout, Elvis Costello, Gary Kemp, Tom Robinson, Sade, The Beat, Lloyd Cole, The Blow Monkeyz, Jools &amp;amp; The Smiths.
Following the Conservatives&#039; successful campaign in 1987, many musicians moved away from the project and eventually Red Wedge was formally disbanded in 1990.
Relive a classic period of great music with this exclusive design!
